The upcoming Independence Day festivities on August 15 at the Red Fort will feature approximately 1,800 esteemed guests from all corners of the nation, invited by the central government.
In a matter of hours, the nation will joyously commemorate its 77th Independence Day. In a remarkable testament to the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make his historic tenth consecutive walk along the ramparts of the Red Fort.

This endeavor aligns with the government’s emphasis on ‘public participation.’ Among these distinguished invitees are over 400 sarpanchs representing more than 660 dynamic villages.
Moreover, there are 250 farmers linked to the Farmer Producer Organization Scheme, along with an equal number of participants from both the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
Notably, the assembly encompasses 50 Shram Yogis (construction workers) and an equal number of Khadi workers associated with the Central Vista project, including the newly constructed Parliament House.
As per the Defense Ministry’s announcement, a select group of these esteemed guests will have the opportunity to visit the National War Memorial during their stay in Delhi.
During this visit, they will also have the privilege to meet with Minister of State for Defense, Ajay Bhatt. The Ministry of Defense has shared that 75 couples from each State/Union Territory have been graciously invited to be part of the ceremony at the Red Fort, where they will be adorned in their traditional attire.
All official invitations have been dispatched electronically through the invitation portal located at www.aamantran.mod.gov.in. Through this digital platform, a total of 17,000 e-invitation cards have been generated and distributed.
Safety Points
The locations include the National War Memorial, India Gate, Vijay Chowk, New Delhi Railway Station, Pragati Maidan, Rajghat, Jama Masjid Metro Station, Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, and various Delhi Metro Stations. These initiatives and endeavors represent international ambitions: Vaccination and Yoga; Ujjwala Yojana; Space Power; Digital India; Skill India; Start-Up India; Swachh Bharat; Empowered India, New India; Powering India; Prime Minister Housing Scheme, and Jal Jeevan Mission.
As a component of the festivities, the Ministry of Defense is set to orchestrate an online selfie competition via the MyGov portal, spanning from August 15 to August 20.
Individuals will be prompted to capture selfies at any of the twelve designated sites and subsequently share them on the MyGov platform to join the competition. A dozen victors, one from each locale, will be chosen through the online selfie contest. Each victor will receive a monetary reward of Rs 10,000.
Defense Minister to welcome PM
Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, the Prime Minister will be welcomed by Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defense Shri Ajay Bhatt, and Defense Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane. The introduction of the Prime Minister will be orchestrated by Defense Secretary, Lt. Gen. Dheeraj Seth, alongside General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Delhi Area.
Subsequently, GOC, Delhi Sector, will accompany Shri Narendra Modi to the Saluting Venue, where a combined contingent comprising Inter-Services personnel and Delhi Police will extend their salute to the Prime Minister. Following this, the Prime Minister will undertake a thorough inspection of the Guard of Honour.
